I had a great time this weekend fishing with the Mattress Firm crew on day one and the Fisch-It Measuring Stick crew on day two of the Cowboys and Cajuns Rodeo. Unfortunately we didn't have any cowboys on board but the competitive juices were pumping for my three man/woman crews both days. The guides were just as competitive which made it even more fun. Twenty-one guides participated fishing from Cocodrie to Dularge. My crews were steady both days as we decided to work to catch the tournament reds in the deep holes on cracked crab rather than hit the ponds for numbers. Worked out perfectly both days as we had the big girls coming in early and once we had our tourney reds we spent a little time looking for trout since there was a big trout pot. We came close with the big trout but no cigar. We averaged about 20lbs each day on the 3 redfish stringer to take third place. Dularge had 4 of the top 5 spots for heaviest redfish stringers which was great to see. Congrats to Capt. Marty Lacoste for taking first and Capt. Chad Billiot for taking second.
