Patrick Dickinson

My name is Capt. Patrick Dickinson. , I operate Dixie Outfitters, LLC, based out of Buras, LA. I am a lifelong resident of extreme South Louisiana in historic Plaquemines Parish, the Mississippi River's doorway to the Gulf of Mexico. I am 47 years old and have been guiding here for 24 years.

I live to be on the water. The smell of the salt air, the wind chiming through the marshland reeds...these are the blessings I experience each day being a fishing guide. Not to mention meeting and often befriending some of the best people I've ever met. Top that off with having the honor of guiding in one of the most fertile and bountiful estuaries in all of the continental United States. I take this honor, this privilege, very serious. I strive to show my clients the beauties and wonders of inland saltwater marshes. Whether it's fighting a bull-red off the rocks at Southwest Pass, jigging shrimp on sandy points for flounders, or easing the boat into a frenzied speckled trout feeding area, the marshes of lower Plaquemines Parish are ripe for eager anglers of all kinds. And not just the fishing, but duck hunting, bird watching, touring the marshes...you name it!

Every year, as a guide, I must learn to adapt to an ever-shifting marsh environment. To this end, I give my all to fishing. I specialize in the inland saltwater trifecta...Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Flounder. Using both artificial and live baits, I traverse the bayous and bays bordering the Gulf of Mexico half the year. I catch limits of specks in the Spring and early Summer, limits of Reds all Summer and Fall, and Flounder during the late Summer and early Fall months. But you never know what you may catch at any given location! Red snapper, Spanish mackerel, mahi-mahi, freshwater catfish, striped bass, and largemouth bass have all landed in the bottom of my boat on occasion. I truly live in a Fisherman's Paradise.
