Lakeside Bayou Classic Fish Fry

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs sacalait (crappie) filets cut into nuggets
  • ½ cup yellow mustard
  • 1 Tbsp Slap Ya Mama Cajun Pepper Sauce
  • Peanut or other frying oil
  • 2 cups Slap Ya Mama Fish Fry

Instructions

  1. In a gallon-sized zip top bag, add fish, yellow mustard, and hot sauce, zip the top, and mix together to coat the fish. 
  2. Place in the fridge until ready to fry.
  3. Heat oil to 350F in a large cast iron skillet or other fryer. 
  4. In a shallow dish, add fish fry. 
  5. Remove fish from the zip top bag and coat in the fish fry, then gently lower it into the hot oil. 
  6. Fry until golden brown and cooked thoroughly, about 3 minutes. 
  7. Carefully remove the fish from the grease and place on a wire rack or paper-towel lined pan. 
  8. Serve with tartar or cocktail sauce.
